The exponential increase in data from high-throughput sequencing techniques has created the need to make the most of this avalanche of biological information. In this context, bioinformatics emerges as an essential field in contemporary biomedical research.
The Bioinformatics Unit complements the services provided by the Genomics Unit at CABIMER through optimized and standardized data processing. Our work enables us to access critical information, such as genome regions enriched in specific proteins, differential gene expression under different conditions, and affected metabolic pathways.
In addition to these tasks, we manage CABIMER’s computational infrastructure in collaboration with the Information Systems team, ensuring its optimal functioning and availability for our users.
We offer standardized services to both internal and external users, as well as exploratory analyses (for more details, please refer to the Service Guide):
Primary Analysis
- RNA-seq and derivatives: quality control, alignment to reference genome, normalization, and quantification of expression levels.
- ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, and derivatives: quality control, alignment, normalization, peak calling, and quantification of peak intensity.
Secondary Analysis
- Differential expression/signal analysis: includes annotation of peaks to genomic features for ChIP-seq data.
- Functional enrichment in biological pathways and Gene Ontology (GO) functions: based on differential expression/signal results.
- DNA motif enrichment (transcription factor binding sites) in ChIP-seq peaks.
Exploratory Analysis of Non-Standard Software
- Users may request analyses not defined in the categories above, with the understanding that results are not guaranteed. Pricing will be based on the hours spent by the analyst.
