Chromatin and transcription regulate alternative splicing
Alternative pre-mRNA splicing is the major contributor to protein diversity in eukaryotic cells. We will discuss the mechanisms that couple RNA polymerase II transcription to alternative splicing, which include regulation of transcriptional elongation, recruitment of splicing factors to the transcription machinery and histone modifications affecting chromatin structure.
